Big Game: Title Defense for TripJax

After a very loooong day at work I had the misfortune of missing yet the opportunity and pleasure of railin' the first of many BBTwo tourneys for this new season. This ended up being an exciting tourney due to the fact that my bro, TripJax, was defending his BBT title from the season ending BBT tournament from the first season. Trip was getting alot of heat at the tables last night but was able to disregard the comments from the table and the rail to stay focused enough to reach the final table. Once at the final table Trip became quite aggressive and a risk taker on several occasions. It was all good though. The turning point for him at the final table was when he took out the closest contender, who at the time had been the chip leader most of the time. After flushing him out and knocking out two players in another hand soon after, Trip was the overwhelming chip leader and it stayed that way until his AA met up with jeciimd's KK, during a very competive heads up battle and the flop provided jeciimd another K for a set and a great opportunity, which he and his cards took advantage of, to eventually walk away with the first title of the new season. Congrats go out to both players for a well played tournament. Patience and tenacity from both parties were evident, but the defense came just a bit short of realization. Great game! See ya next time....out!

!!!OOOUUUCCCHHH!!!

All was going well and as planned for my game plan in the WCOOP. Went 23 minutes into the tourney and played only 2 hands. One was a BIG big blind (AA), the only mistake I made was I instant messaged my brother about it and it actually posted on the chat board. Arrrggg. I guess the only good thing was they didn't get cracked. The very next hand I play my small blind and flop a straight 5,6 suited flop comes 4,7,8 rainbow. 5 players in the hand. Check. Betting proceeds and just call (after 2 raises ahead of me). Down to 3 players. Turn and river comes 10,Q. Pot is now over 7,000 and I take it down over a set of 8's and two pair Q8's. Feeling pretty good at this point. 35 minutes in and got over 17,000 chips. Auto fold a couple of hands to get a drink and get comfortable on the chase again. Another orbit goes by without a play and my big blind gives me KJ hearts. Raised the blinds by three times and two players stay. Flop comes Q,1O,A 2 hearts(A is a club). Bet comes out 4oo I raise to 1200, fold and call. Turn comes 9 of clubs. Bet comes 800, I raise to 2400...call. Flopped the straight, got a flush draw with K high and a possible straight flush draw!!???!! River comes 2 of hearts. 6,000 is the bet, I call and player shows A,8 hearts. Out flushed by one digit and cost me over 9,000 chips. !OUCH! A few hands go by, maybe two. Just about to auto fold to walk of the flush beat and I get dealt KK. Stayed in and got lucky to have two pre-flop raises ahead of me! Called and flop comes K,2,10 rainbow. 3 players. Check, I push all-in ( about 4700) get a quick call from one and a hesitated call from other. With the calls two players are all-in. Hands flop. I have KK with a set already, quick caller shows AA, hesitater shows K,10 and has two pair. At this point pockets aces are dominated by other 2 players and I'm in the lead. Turn comes 8 and no help to any. Then the dreaded river. Pair the board, pair the board! No such luck, you got it...... River comes A and my first WCOOP is over inside the first 44 minutes of the tourney.
Although I think I played my hands as well and as cautious as I could... I am still OUT! Upset, hmmm not really, Disappointed...most definitely!! Really just wanted to have an opportunity to play deep into the tourney for the experience and the commrodary with fellow bloggers across the country. Oh, well. As Scotty would say...."that's poker BABY!"At this time I will rejoin the tourney as a railer and cheer on the bloggers I do know. Especially my brother, Tripjax! Until next time, remember...Happiness is not a destination, rather a means of transportation...Enjoy the ride, while it lasts! -chapel, out-
